During a video conference I was having with one of my manufacturers I was shown a pair of these type of shorts. I liked them but went on to the same style I've used in the past for the ranked shorts. The next day I realized that these would be more appealing to some as they don't have the Velcro that can sometimes be bothersome. I had a sample made and as soon as I tried them on I was sold.
They have a board short feel but clearly made for grappling given that a piece of stretchy material runs along the inside portion of the shorts.
Initially when I saw the ninja stars on the sample shorts I received I thought they were too small but after a day or two of wearing them they grew on me.
The elastic waistband provides a more snug fit that can be tightened to ensure they don't slip off even during the most aggressive roll.
If you are between sizes go one size smaller as the elastic waist stretches to provide an additional 3-4 inches if needed.
